Biography

He was born on September 5, 1969. He graduated with a degree in Visual Arts from the National School of Plastic Arts of UNAM and specializes in drawing and engraving.

He was born on September 5, 1969. He graduated with a degree in Visual Arts from the National School of Plastic Arts of UNAM and specializes in drawing and engraving, mainly figurative work, with an emphasis on the management of the human body with a tendency towards the macabre-erotic.

Eguiza was a FONCA fellow and has done artistic residencies in Canada, Spain and Italy. He has exhibited his work in Mexico, USA, Central America, South America, and Europe.

Some of his most relevant individual exhibitions are: The Razor in the Mirror, presented at the San Ángel Cultural Center in 1995; Fleeting Roces, Persistent Illusions, at the El Café Gallery, in Belize City, in 1998; Obra Varia, at the Galería Mexicanos, also in 1998; The Crossing of the Body, at the Institute of Cooperation and Culture Mexico-Belize, in Belize City, in 2000, and Las Esclavas, in the Metropolitan Cultural Space of Tampico, Tamaulipas, in 2011.

Collectively, he has participated in projects such as The Transgressions to the Body, in the Carrillo Gil Art Museum, in 1997, and ExpoErotika, in the Graphic Workshop La Huella, with headquarters in Colombia, in 2013.

He has also participated in various biennials, such as the Alfredo Zalce Biennial of Painting and Engraving, in 2001, 2011 and 2014; the First National Biennial of Painting in Gómez Palacio, Durango, in 2008; the 1st Biennial of Contemporary Mexican Printing, in 2009; the National Biennial of Visual Arts in Mérida, Yucatán, in 2009 and 2011; the Sixth International Biennial of Engraving in Douro, in Alijó, Portugal, in 2012, and the First International Biennial of Engraving “J.G.Posada” in Aguascalientes, in 2013.
