Edmunod Aquino, of Zapotec origin, was born in Zimatlán, Oaxaca, in 1939, although from an early age he moved to Mexico City. His people marked his life and his art, always proud of his Mexican identity he donated work to found the newspaper La Jornada.
Aquino studied at the National School of Arts of San Carlos, where he obtained the title of Master in Plastic Arts. In the period from 1964 to 1967 he served as head of the Section of Plastic Arts, at the School of Fine Arts of the Benito Juárez University, in Oaxaca City.
He participated in numerous exhibitions individual and collective, national and international. His work has been acquired by various collections, such as the National Library of Paris, the Mexican Museum in San Francisco, the International Ex libris Center of Belgium and the National Institute of Fine Arts, among others.
